A Gorgeous Okapi

I took this photo at the San Diego Zoo a few weeks ago.  A gorgeous Okapi!  One of the most exotic animals on earth.  Legs like a Zebra. Neck like a Giraffe.  A stunning example of creative design.

Troll Letter

In the woods of NH, someone made a troll house, complete with a little mailbox.  I peeked inside.  This letter was inside a ziploc bag.  I can remember as a child totally believing in trolls and fairies, just as this child clearly does.  All children need to feel like the world is enchanted.

What a face!

Talk about a face!  I spotted this dog while in Boston last week, and quickly snapped his photo.  All I know about him is that he weighs 155 pounds.  Since most of my books are about dogs, and this fellow’s face is screaming to become famous, I may have to include him in my next WIGGENS book.

WIGGENS MAKES FRIENDS AT THE ZOO out today!

WIGGENS MAKES FRIENDS AT THE ZOO comes out today!  It was a year ago, that Alex von Bidder and I were meeting all the animals and their keepers, gathering the characters and stories for this book.  This interactive book has all the things that we personally experienced at the Zoo, like scrubbing a rhino and feeding a giraffe.  Now you can do it too, with your fingers.   The brilliant Canadian creative team brought it all to life in an interactive and magical way.

PURE SUMMER JOY

This is what summer is all about. Here is Buddy, my friend’s Australian Terrier, doing a beautiful dive into the pool.  Perhaps he has been watching the Olympics?

Get Out Of Your Mind!

The other day, two men came to my house to take away a piece of furniture.  As I watched the 50 year old man, doing this incredibly physical work, I asked, “You said you’ve been doing this for 30 years, and I am wondering how many times have you hurt your back or been injured?”  Both men in unison said, “Injuries?  What?  We don’t go there.” It was so clear. They don’t allow a moment of their mind to concieve of what they don’t want to have happen.  A good thing to think about.

A Visual Treat

These butterflies are above the escalator in the Neiman Marcus store in Palm Beach.  Every time I am on Worth Avenue I make a point of experiencing this visual treat.  Humans need to be connected to creativity. We are surrounded by creative technology but often are we not connected to “real life” creativity like these butterflies.

Where R We?

I saw this trailer in upstate NY.  One of my teachers told me that it doesn’t matter where you are, because all paths lead to nowhere.  All that matters is that your path has a heart.
